Profile
Steve Preston as Elvis.
Critical acclaim indeed from abroad, but here at home it was in 1986 the public first became aware of the sensational Steve Preston when at The Rooftop Gardens, Wakefield he performed his first ever Elvis convention. Such was his success he was invited to appear the following year on the 10th anniversary of the death of Elvis. Numerous TV appearances further enhanced his career and after one such appearance Steve was offered a leading role in the musical ‘Elvis and the Rock and Roll Years’, allowing Steve to branch out into acting.
Steve is now considered by professionals, such as radio 1 DJ ‘Nicky Campbell’, to be the UK’s leading Elvis stylist.
A further TV appearance was on ‘Schofields Quest’ which brought Steve national recognition when he was unexpectedly presented with Elvis Presley’s personal cigar lighter by Philip Schofield.
Yet in November 1995 an even bigger surprise was in store when Steve was asked to cut short his tour of America to appear in front of HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN and HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH on stage with celebrities such as Sir Cliff Richard, Olivia Newton John, Elaine Paige and Hale and Pace at the Dominion Theatre, London on THE ROYAL VARIETY PERFORMANCE.
Steve’s costumes are made in the USA and are replica’s of the Kings very own. His playback show is one of the most powerful shows in the UK with Concert PA and lighting.
