Remember seeing a Bon Jovi video for the first time? More than likely it would have been in 1986, either ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’, or ‘You Give Love a Bad Name’. Maybe it was before then, or maybe more recently. Remember being blown away by that video?
By the songs, by the excitement and the energy of the band, that so few other bands have invoked either before or since?
Bon Giovi as a band formed in the summer of 1999, its members also being so inspired by the great American rockers that they wanted to become the UK’s best sound-alike to the band. After seven years of gigs (and taking the actual Italian-American surname of Jon Bon Jovi), the band have more than achieved that aim. There may be other Bon Jovi tribute acts playing in the UK, but no other band is as tight or professional-sounding, with harmony backing vocals so close to the original.
The Bon Giovi repertoire includes songs from all the Bon Jovi albums, but draws mainly from the classic albums ‘Slippery When Wet’ and ‘New Jersey’. The band have worked hard to reproduce the arena rock sound of such well-known anthems as ‘Livin’ on a
Prayer’, ‘Always’, ‘It’s My Life’ and ‘You Give Love a Bad Name’.
Since their inception, Bon Giovi have played at music venues all over the UK, performing in virtually every major town and city in the last seven years. Career highlights include performing to 3000 bikers at Donnington, headlining the
Monsters of Rock festivals at Butlins, and playing in front of 7000 Bikers at the British Motorcycle Federation. Bon Giovi feature in the highly popular ‘Totally Tributes’ themed holidays at Butlins, and were the only UK band asked to make a guest appearance on the New Jersey tribute album "Garden State Of Mind Vol. 1". Bon Giovi have played further a-field too, including gigs in Jersey and Guernsey, and a week of gigs in
December of 2003 in the UAE, which took them to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain.
